Venkat started this year in our beginner group and as a result of his enjoyment of the game, dedication to training, and support from his family, he has progressed to a higher skill level including being able to rally with JV and Varsity level players. Venkat’s easy going and humorous personality is enjoyed by all in our group. I invite you to learn more about his journey in the game below.Â
What led you to get into tennis?
When I was 4, my dad took me to one of the U.S. Open matches in New York. Since then I started growing watching tennis matches along with my family. I love playing and watching tennis.

We can play individually as well as a team. I love forehand and backhand shots.
Who is your favourite player?
Roger Federer.
What are your goals in the game?
My short term goal is to get selected for the Varsity team in high school. My long term goal is to keep growing bigger and more intellectually.
What areas of your game are you working on?
At current, focussing on practicing my serves, volleys, and backhand shots.
What coaching tip has helped you the most?
Follow-through tips for forehand, backhand, and serving shots are working well in my practice.
What is playing tennis teaching you?
I am gaining my physical balance, strength, focus, self-control, and time management.
What would you like to share with other kids who may be considering playing and learning tennis?
Tennis is both an individual and team sport where you can learn intellectual skills by gaining physical and mental balance. Moreover, it is a fun sport.
I look forward to Venkat’s continued enjoyment of the game and to helping him achieve his goals of playing for his school’s Varsity team and to growing as a player and person.Â
