Garen is a great example of a young player in our program who has started his tennis journey with passion and enthusiam for the game. He brings a lot of joy and effort to the court and I’m excited to share about his development through this year.
What led you to start playing tennis?
My parents wanted to sign me up for a sport when I was 5 and tennis was the only thing I could do.
What do you like about the sport?
It’s a fun sport, meeting new friends and I like to use rackets.
What’s your favorite tennis drill or game?
My favorite game is budge. My favorite drill is rallying in two squares.
Do you have a goal you are working towards?
To get a better backhand and a better serve.
What have you been working on in your game?
Playing games against my Dad and hitting a tennis ball off the garage door.
What are some lessons that you have learned in the game this year?
Looking for shots when playing match play and moving back to the center of the court after I hit the ball over the net.
What would you like to share with other kids about your experience in the game?
Learning new things. When I started I couldn’t hit the ball over the net. Now after a year I can play an actual game.
What’s been your favorite memory in tennis so far?
During match play when I hit a forehand shot on the line and won the point.
We thank Garen for sharing his thoughts and look forward to his continued enjoyment and progress in the game!
