Tenicity Beginner Tennis Programs

Tenicity’s Beginner Programs aim to grow youth participation in the lifelong game of tennis. The training will be focused on learning the game’s fundamentals with progressive skill development.

Our Beginner Program has 3 Stages of Development:

Stage 1:
  • Builds foundational athletic skills and movement.
  • Groundstroke (forehands and backhands) fundamentals.
  • Learning the basic structure of the game.
  • Players build engagement, listening skills, and cooperation in a group setting.
Stage 2:
  • Fitness development.
  • Further stroke development on the groundstrokes and introduction to technique fundamentals on the serve, return, and net play.
  • Understanding of singles and doubles play.
  • Players develop their social skills with meeting new players, being polite and respectful, and contributing to a positive and encouraging environment.
Stage 3:
  • Fitness development with agility and basic strength exercises.
  • Stroke development with higher consistency and placement.
  • Match play readiness with stroke play on full size court (as per age group) and knowledge of the games rules and scoring.
  • Demonstrates timeliness for lessons, gives a strong effort, and developing a positive attitude and experience in the game.
The rate of progress through the above stages is impacted by the consistency of training and the player’s individual rate of development. Extended breaks do result in a decline in tennis skills and a period of time will be needed upon resumption to build back up to the level achieved prior to the break.

In all 3 stages, our coaching methods implement the principles of positive youth development via sports.

Customer Testimonial

"Thank you for a fun 3 weeks filled with growth in our children's tennis skills! I grew up playing tennis with parks and rec programs up through varsity with Centennial and am impressed by your program. Not only the way you incorporate skills with fun but the way you interact with the kids, learning their names on day 1 and engaging them in conversations about their week and what they liked best about lessons. All combined, it makes them so excited to come back every day. Keep up the good work!"
